A note from the Director of Parallel Lives, M. Justin Red…

Before rehearsals began, I had a slight fear it would be strange, me being a guy, directing a show written by women, performed by an all-woman cast… but looking at the process so far, it’s been very educational on both sides. I’ve taught them how to inject more testosterone into their comedy, and they’ve taught me how to wax.

When it comes to theatre, I am not easily impressed. However, at rehearsals for this show, I have often found myself in awe of this talented cast. They are absolutely fearless! If you’ve ever acted before, you know it can take time to feel comfortable in front of a new director with a new cast. Nevertheless, from the very first day,
these incredible ladies left their inhibitions at the door, and came at me with outrageous characters and uncanny comic timing.

They all come from different backgrounds, parts of the world, and age groups (though as a gentleman I will tell you: not one of them looks a day over 25). Yet they’ve all come together to form an ensemble, and are growing more tightly knit every night!

A fun, snappy show with a great sense of purpose and really fabulous performances.

Hilarious and insightful. The two macho guys discussing their menstrual pains were an amazing topsy-turvy scene. The young woman showering and getting ready to go out received amused recognition from every woman in the house. Everyone was believable, funny, fantastic.

Hilarious, wonderful production! There were so many amazing performances. The writing is brilliant, and these women thoroughly owned their characters!! I loved the angels planning how men and women would relate!! The dancer in the final act was gloriously over the top, exactly perfect for that scene!!! I was there for a sold-out, bringing in extra chairs, people on the edge of their seats, standing ovation show! What a crowd pleaser!
