Everyone enjoys a good Irish pub song and Songs for Pints delivers Irish Pub Songs by the pint and even the gallon for that matter. They have a great repertoire to draw on and you will have a great time. They were and are one of the smash (or is that smashed) hits of the Rogue in past years and will be again this year!

Totally love this group and not just cuz they’re my friends. I’ve seen their shows and had an awesome time. Can’t wait for more this year. The bonus for me is that I get to hear them prep throughout the year. The DVD is frakkin awesome. A compilation of performances from the 2008 Rogue Festival. Bring your friends and buy a Guinness. For you and them.

Come down, have a pint, mellow out and enjoy watching REALLY great singers. It’s hard to tell if their Irish gets better or worse the more they drink, so COME ON DOWN and have a listen for yourself and decide. I promise you’ll not be bored and you’ll walk away a little lighter and happier for it.

Like watching old friends perform, even if you’ve never met them before… a warm, charming, show, in a drunken Irish Gaelic kinda way… a great show to start things off with.

To the guy (my apologies for not knowing your name) who checked out my show, “Confessions of a Karaoke DJ,” thanks for swinging by, and I’m glad you had a chance to plug your show.
My wife and I are familiar with your show, and it dawned on me that one thing your show and karaoke have in common is that both drinking and singing are involved. One major difference: anyone who is either drunk or sober knows you three can sing, so hearing you is nowhere near as painful as hearing those who drink and then think (in their “drunken wisdom”) that they can sing.

Checked out the Sat. show with my hubby. Missed the first half :(, but the second was worth the trip from Kerman. Better than I expected, played some familiar Irish songs. Very good singers. I encourage everyone to check out their other dates.

I really wanted to like this show. I came away feeling I should see it again to give them another chance. The female singer (Kim) was getting over some sort of sickness, and I have a feeling this wasn’t her best performance. I liked Russell. He had a voice you expect to hear singing Irish songs. His performance on “Foggy Dew” was solid. Although they forgot some of the words to the songs, they had so much fun you almost didn’t notice. Give ‘em a go. They’re entertaining and obviously enjoying what they’re doing!

Saturday’s show ranged from funny to sentimental to political.
All of it went down smoother than a pint of Guiness.

Hmmmm, if I understood it correctly,
part of the concept here was to get the singers as drunk as possible
in order to improve their performance.
(Is this akin to getting so drunk that you don’t care who you have sex with?)
While this logic may work when the technique is employed by the audience,
I can’t say it worked here, at least, not with me.
Definitely not my cup of tea.

Cathy…
Yes, Kim has had bronchitis a couple times recently, still fighting stuff. I had it once. Deric had something too. The list continues… been rough… but still having fun. She’s been real down on herself about it, too. She has the most voice training of us all. I just keep reminding her that the bronchitis has temporarily clipped her wings and so her voice has been brought down to the mortal level with the rest of us.

LOL… Well… if you were looking for a cup of tea… yeah… I’d say you were lost. The concept here is simply to have a good time… “Ceol ’s Craic” is Gaelic for “music and fun/company”… the casual and intimate time you might spend in a pub. The music is coming from your friends and neighbors. Music without pretense, unpolished and sincere.
Since you’re venturing analytical, what you may have missed is that in most past shows we wait at the beginning until someone buys a round… then we start singing. The awkward beginning tends to shake down that forth wall and begin the Ceol ’s Craic. Saturday, our first round was bought early and I preferred to just get into the music.
When Deric and I began performing in 2004 we started brainstorming names for our act. Songs4Pints popped into my head… after rolling it over we both started laughing and decided that’s literally what we should do. Getting as drunk as possible has never been my aim and I believe those sentiments are shared by the three of us.
Pints have always been for me another way the audience expresses their affection for us in our celebration of Irish culture… a culture you are grossly misunderstanding if you think any of this has anything to do with not caring who we’re having sex with.
Here’s hoping you find your tea and crumpets.

I saw them twice last year and plan to see all three shows this year. Every show is different as they take requests and you never know where the night might go. Audience participation definitely keeps them on their toes!
But, if fun is not your ‘thing,’ you might want to avoid this one…

The show was witty and fun. We are definitely going back so we can see many of the other songs they perform and we strongly urge everyone else to come out and join in the fun. Songs-4-pints promises nothing but fun….and they keep their promises!!!

Are you guys playing anywhere else in the valley in the near future? I’d like to go again!

Cathy…
Yes, we hope so. We’ve started looking around for good places to play. We’ve been approached by some venues, another band interested in doing a show with us, etc. We’re going to be adding more and more songs… eventually more instruments… And I’m going to be keeping everyone up to date in various ways. Anyone interested in booking us or keeping up to date on our performances should e-mail me at…

http://www.geocities.com/songs4pints/ This is the main portal website. It can lead you to our MySpace Page, or our Facebook Page, our YouTube Channel…. and some other stuff. I’ll be doing more with this site in the coming weeks. Though, our Facebook page will probably carry the most detailed info on our activities.
Deric’s sister was so kind to film all three shows and we’ll have those all available online soon.
And thank you for your honest assessment. Gave me the good setup to demonstrate some ‘Blarney’ in discussing Kim. And I’m glad you enjoyed Foggy Dew. I’ve been wanting to do that song for years. Just made it into the show.
I hope to hear from you.
