I took some crap tonight for how I introduced the show, repeating what I read on the Beehive about how Christien Sweeney abandoned the original show.

I thanked the person who called my comments disgusting and promised I wouldn’t repeat them, but um….isn’t that what happened?

Anyway, this is s’posed to be about the show.

For 3 weeks’ rehearsal and for throwing this together, the two ladies do a nice job with the show.

One guy came up afterwards and said “Do you know of any shows that will make any sense to me???” He was serious.

Lanford Wilson isn’t the most accessible playwright, and this isn’t his best-known work, but the story of two former friends suddenly reunited is a character study.

The plot points are weak for Lanford, and the lines are a bit stilted for the actresses.

I guess I can say they do the best they can with what they have, and the way they rejoin souls coming from such disparity is interesting, but this show isn’t for everyone.

I truly appreciated this character study. Maybe it’s because I’m of the age where one might look at life and realize that even though things may have turned out just how one wanted them to… it’s not necessarily how one REALLY wanted it to.

You know, things are not always what they seem, be careful what you wish for, the grass is always greener, where are we going and why am I in this handbasket…

All these themes waft through this two person, one hour play.

I was so impressed by both actors, especially upon learning that they had literally pulled this thing together in just a few weeks.

This isn’t too deep. It isn’t epic. But it is an enjoyable look into the lives of two women who knew one another, lost touch, and are finding one another again.

It’s worth seeing, and I recommend it.
