I really enjoyed this show. The musicians were very entertaining musically and their sense of humor was really fun. I especially got a kick out of the bass players big solo. The idea of having a menu of musical choices giving control of the content to the audience was a nice touch.

Since I’m not going to be able to see “Suicide Lounge” until Friday night (their last show), I would like to say that I did see them at the Rogue Kick Off, and they are amazing. Joy has the most beautiful voice, and such incredible style - in her interpretation and her stage presence - and her version of “Lush Life” is to die for. RP and the pianist (I’m sorry, I don’t know his name) are equally fine. Plus, it’s quite lovely to see how they combine drop-dead cool with humour!A show to see.

This is what you get. I’ve been listening to them over the last year — and they continue to amaze me. Like fine wine, they just get better, and better, and better.

Fantastic musicianship and easy-going natural talent make this a show in which you can relax with confidence that these folks are going to touch you with their music.—whether it’s something bawdy and fun, or something deep and heartfelt. Oh yeah, on top of the musicianship and talent— these guys/gals have range! I’ll be seeing this again Friday!

Last night at the late night special session of Suicide Lounge the audience and the performers really got into the groove! Joy’s voice is amazi and she was totally on it last night. RP’s got a great sense of leadership with the group as he lead them into song after song of addiction, stalkers, love, anger and the like. Nate is a wonderful perfonality on stage and his charisma is the pefect balancing act in this motely crew of performers!

Bravo gang! I absolutely loved it!

My friend and I went to see the 7:30 and 10pm shows…I never knew that Anger Management Sessions could be so much fun, feel so good, and that “group therapy” was so affordable!! For eight bucks, I received 2-one hour therapy sessions and a free glass of wine!

Yes, where else but the Rogue Festival can you find such a great deal…

Okay, now hold UP!

Let’s get one thing straight. These are not performers, they are DRUNKS!! Absolute DRUNKS!!!

and talented. and FUN!!!!! Jeezus they’re so fun.

Joy is lovely, and she and RP really work well together on the consumate jazz tunes (Funny Valentine, Fever, etc).

But the best is when they’r being irreverant, joshing with the crowd and each other, and playing that extra half-hour to an equally drunk crowd on a late night!

You can’t help but love Suicide Lounge. I know I do.

When I first looked at the Rogue 2008 Art Performance Program, I immediately identified Anger Management Sessions as I a show I wanted to see. Meanwhile, a college friend saw a Bulletin I had posted for Rogue and asked if she could tag along. As it turned out, she was also interested in going to the Anger Management Sessions, and so we made plans to catch the 7:30pm show @ Veni Vidi Vici’s.

I arrived to find the back patio almost completely packed but fortunately my friend had arrived early and had saved me a seat. While announcements were being made, I got a glance of a white board with a 2-columned list. I thought to myself, “Hmmm…it looks like they listed all the Rogue shows at Veni Vidi Vici’s tonight, I’ll have to check this out later.”

I didn’t have to wait though because after their introduction, The Suicide Lounge, told us that how this show worked is that they would ask the audience to pick a category from the board, and that they would perform a song from that category. Now before you start thinking Jeopardy, these category titles didn’t read like the ones you would find on America’s favorite game-show. Not with titles like: It’s Your Fault, Sociopathic Tendencies, Loss of Control, and Temporary Insanity!!!

So imagine my surprise when The Suicide Lounge began singing, My Funny Valentine after we picked the category, Abuse. Where was the connection I wondered? But listening to the lyrics and witty repartee among the performers, it became apparent that their categories were associated with song lyrics! We’ve all heard the songs in The Suicide Lounge’s repertoire a million times and may even know the complete lyrics to some but have we ever really paid attention to their words in a different context?!? It was hilarious!!!

After the show my friend and I went over to the Million Elephant Café, where we decided to go to The Suicide Lounge’s 10pm show @ Dianna’s South. Afterall, our 7:30pm Anger Manager Management Session only lasted an hour and we didn’t get to hear all the song categories.

The 10pm Anger Management Session was packed, wine flowing, and the audience yelled out for a particular song where the audience participates in singing the refrain. Which song is that you wonder? Well why should I tell you everything about the show?

I will tell you this…I never knew that Anger Management Sessions could be so much fun, feel so good, and that “group therapy” was so affordable!! For eight bucks, I received 2-one hour therapy sessions and a free glass of wine!

Yes, where else but the Rogue Festival can you find such a great deal…

Just thought I’d point that out.

And… we’re low-brow because we do something different than an entirely unrelated musical performance?

Hm. Does this mean the appreciative audience is a collection of low-brow loving drunks?

I love listening to you guys! Joy I still can’t believe that the voice that comes out of you is yours. WOW!! What a fun show and hope this is a year round thing again. Make sure that pussycat stays out of trouble;)
