Since first appearing at the Edinburgh Festival in 2004, “The Rap Canterbury Tales” has been taking the world by storm. The show re-creates Chaucer’s 14th century classic as an edgy rap battle, bringing the raunchy stories of lust and revenge to vivid new life. Hailed as one of the must-see shows at the Edinburgh Festival (“Truly awe-inspiring … 5 Stars!” - The Scotsman), Baba Brinkman’s medieval rap classic has ignited minds and sold-out theatres across Australia, Canada, England, and even at Harvard University. The Rogue Festival hit of ‘05 is returning for another round of rudeness. Don’t miss it!

Absolutely brilliant! Brinkman transforms Chaucer into a story about a rap fan stow-away pulled into a rap-off, story telling contest. While there are added bonuses if you’re familiar with the Canterbury tales, but either way, it’s a profoundly enjoyable show. Brinkman changes characters frequently and convincingly before your eyes in an amazing performance. Tell your friends to go to this!

Never have I had so much fun, been so entertained, and felt so 'cultured' all at once.

A brilliant mind for our time applying fresh MODERN rhyme to words otherwise enshrined in dusty old tomes that sit alone on a shelf, a wealth of stories unnoticed til he found motive to represent. For a guy dead 600 years. Give or take.

(I suck. He doesn't. Pay money, see this guy. You do NOT have to know Chaucer, or what a Canterbury Tale is to get it.)

It was GREAT!!! I don't know Chaucer like I wish I did, but it was fun, intelligent, philosophical, and "cool" nonetheless. There's no wonder in my mind as to why this guy is world famous.
He gives welcomed disclaimers to tha easily offended...but it's worth staying to see tha performance whether you agree with he or Chaucer's views. ~Rell

Brinkman is an amazing performer. Still a great show even if you're unfamiliar with Chaucer, but even if you can just get some Cliff Notes, your performance will be that much more enhanced, and you'll appreciate the inside jokes. Especially good for kids/folks who may not have had a lot of theatrical experience. There's nothing more bawdy here than on MTV or Jerry Springer, and it's incredibly humorous and well done. Even your most hardcore TV person will be entertained, and your theater and spoken word people will be floored. See Brinkman and this show while you can.

Witty and highly entertaining.
I found nothing to dislike about this show. The writing, acting, pacing, lighting and sound effects, were superb.

Fun, clever. Somehow I thought it was more brilliant in '05, perhaps closer to the tales of Chaucer? Still worth attending.
