THE STORY: Recovering from a nervous breakdown, Jane is nursed and nagged by her relentlessly cheerful mother, and confused by her oversexed brother—who keeps changing into her father, her grandfather and her mother’s French lover. Eventually all (including Jane’s psychiatrist, who undergoes a sex change operation and swaps places with his wife) change characters again and become Jane herself—leaving her with no identity at all and pointing up the near impossibility of self-identification in our uncertain times.

I just loved this show! It is well worth making the trip (Rogue spoils us with most things being so close together) to Studio 65 for Epic Theatre’s performance of ‘Dentity Crisis. The neurotic characters are incredibly funny, but with the serious undertones and sometimes Lewis Carrol-ish, nonsensical moments, the show is funny without being just silly. There were wonderful performances by all 5 actors (Jaguar Bennett, Lori Gambero, Ashley Hyatt, Jessica Reedy, Adam Schroeder). All that, and you’ll get to see one of the performers in a skirt – one you’ve probably never seen in a skirt before. To find out who it is, you’ll have to go see the show for yourself…
