Pat you were amazing!! The rest of it was too un-bellydance for me. It just seemed like a lot of arm waving and not belly dancing. The costumes over powered every move made (except on Pat). I had high hopes. I wish I could say I liked it, but I can't.

I agree with Sydnee that from I saw that Pat K. did really nice dancing. The Egyptian style costume with it's wing like extensions was spectacular.
the Jessica Rabbit dress was also spectacular in a very sexy way but the dance then seemed like a strippers routine more than a belly dance.
The dancers fit their moves to the theme of their dance. If you want traditional belly dance moves you probably should try another troupe but if you want to see "Lizzy Bordon" balance her axe on her head before 40 wacks give these guys a try
I give the group an A+ for originality. Given the nature of the Rogue they fit right in.

This was billed as non-traditional belly dancing, and people are complaining that it's non-traditional!
These women are highly skilled, no matter what the size or age of the body. They are using all the techniques of the bump-and-grind crowd, but they are doing it with a sense of humor! Imagine a row of Marilyn Monroes shimmying to "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," Princess Leia gyrating to "Fly Me to the Moon," Jessica Rabbit undulating like she never did on screen, or Lizzy Borden caressing a hatchet!
This show made me happy to be older!

Yah, this show shouldn't be construed as 'true bellydancing.' Tanjora does that in 1001 Arabian Nights.

What this show is...is fun! The costumes and set and sharpness of the rehearsed acts are cute, and you'll definitely get a laugh.

They enjoy what they do, and Jessica Rabbit does more than just sexy moves (tho they ARE quite sexy).

There is a foursome that dances together that would be considered a bit more 'traditional' bellydance, but this show is just for fun...

would like to thank all who came to our show. This is the one time a year that we (Ananka) break-out of Cabaret or ethnic belly dance costumes, let our imaginations run wild, get our creative juices flowing, challenge our bellydance skills to untraditional beats. Were you able to spot the Saidi, Tunesian, Modern Egyptian, Moroccan (to name a few) movements?
I hope you had as much fun as we did at our mini production of Famous Females. It took almost as long to narrow the field as it did to get the production underway.
Everyone worked very hard to present this show to you and for us. It is a delight to dance with everyone in the company.

A special thank you to our printer,
Minuteman Press; our videotographer
Carlos; our photographer, Mike; our voice master, Greg, and stage and sound managers, Sherri and Sean
Also a very special thank you to Ely Buffin, our director, choreographer, teacher and friend.
