Since 2002, Rogue Festival has inspired local performers to throw their proverbial pith hats in the ring by creating pieces of art- whether it be theatrical, musical, dance, or visual art.
Rogue Festival was the brainchild of Marcel Nunis. The first Festival was located at Fresno’s Sanctuary Youth Center. It had 2 venues- The Stage in the theatre section (Mainstage) and a performance area in the cafeteria (Cafe). There were 19 different groups performing 47 shows over 6 days in a 2 week period.
In 2003, circumstances forced Marcel to move The Festival to The Tower District (Fresno’s artist heart). Veni Vidi Vici’s and Starline welcomed them and Rogue Festival has remained in The Tower ever since. My this ‘little’ festival has grown!
Over the years Rogue Festival has grown to have over 70 performers and 300+ performances per year. Selling around 10,000 tickets over two weekends. All of the shows are hosted by up to 9 Rogue Venues along with 5 Bring Your Own Venues (BYOV’s).
The Rogue Festival is a 501c3 non-profit organization. All of the money from tickets go to each performer who volunteers.
Rogue Festival is an annual, non-juried performance and visual arts festival held in Fresno’s Historic Tower District and surrounding areas. The Festival aspires to bring emerging and established artists to audiences with works that are imaginative, innovative, and enriching. Rogue Festival strives to foster stronger relationships in the community by joining local businesses, audiences, and performers to share this gift of human creativity. Rogue Festival has been and continues to be run by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers. From the Production Team to a first-timer taking tickets in front of a venue, over 150 volunteers help to bring The Festival to Fresno.
